Networking and Resource Sites
One of the primary advantages of beginning an Internet company in 2006 over 1996 is that there are many resources available today that were unheard of then. These resources can be sites like this one, webmaster boards, and other various informational sites.
Today I am going to discuss a few of the options available to you.
Since a lot of my discussions so far have centered aound search engine optimization and search engine marketing it should be easy to tell that I find this form of marketing to be the best. Since it can be very expensive to have someone optimize your sites for you, I am going to suggest that those of you on a budget check out AdultSEM.
They can be contracted to do the work for you, but they also offer free articles and tutorials. AdultSEM was created by goodgirl, a full time SEO, to provide search engine marketing services to adult sites and provide a place where adult webmasters could find tutorials and articles on the search engine industry. She has included an excellent blog, and one section I would highly suggest reading is the tutorial on how to build a search engine friendly site from the ground up. It is information you will not find given away for free just anywhere.
Another source of information and entertainment, as well as general networking with other webmasters are message boards. A caveat about message boards is that you can find yourself getting caught up so much in them that you neglect getting any work done. So proceed with care. There are boards that can provide valuable information, and then there are boards that are more entertainment, with some information thrown in for good measure.
The first message board I will direct you to is Adult Internet Marketing Forum. It is part of AdultSEM and as the name suggests, the theme is adult internet marketing and search engine optimization. It is not a particularly active board, but any questions you have will be answered. Everyone there is there for business, you don’t see a lot of chit chat going on.
Another good board for “newbies” is Cozy Campus. As the name implies, the board is a very cozy atmosphere, and newbies are welcomed with open arms. Cozy Campus is part ofCozy Academy and is known thoughout the adult industry for having quality tutorials. I will issue another caveat in that some of them may be a little dated, but the basic information should be helpful.
Another message board you might want to take a look at is Ask DamageX. I have only been there a few times, but it could be helpful if you are looking for traffic or link trades.
The last board is the biggest of them all, it is also the scariest for most newcomers. That is Go Fuck Yourself. This board has more members than any other board out there. If you are providing goods and services to adult webmasters, you must post there for the simple reason that this is where all eyes come. There is a lot of drama and other forms of entertainment, but don’t be afraid, their bark is worse than their bite.
