Building Your AVS Site
Okay, hopefully you have picked your domain name that is relevant to the content you are going to provide. So we shall proceed.
As I stated earlier, Sex Pictures Pass is essentially an incentive for the surfer to try a preselected program that matches the niche of your site. Since it only costs $4.95 for a lifetime membership, the site rules are minimal. For instance, you only need to have 20 pictures or 30 seconds of video (video clips must be at least 10 seconds). However, while this is the minimum required to get listed, it does not mean that this is necessarily the best road to take. We will address this a little bit later.
People often ask me what an AVS site is, so we will start with breaking it down by the two primary areas. The tour (unprotected) and the members area (protected).
The tour can range from the very simple to paysite quality. If you take a look at our linklist you can see that the range is quite wide.
I have seen tours that were nothing more than the site name and a login box, but because the affiliate was using double opt in email, the surfer was already sold and the tour was not really necessary. On the other hand I have seen paysite quality tours that did nothing because the affiliate did no promotion of the site and was hoping solely for the linklist traffic to bring in the sales for him.
I would suggest looking thru the Sex Pictures Pass linklist and concentrating on sites in the same niche that you will be promoting, and see what your competition is doing.
The tour should concentrate on making sure that the surfer understands that for $4.95 not only will they be getting a trial membership to the paysite, but they are also getting LIFETIME ACCESS, NO HIDDEN FEES, ACCESS TO THIS SITE AND 1,000’s OF OTHERS LIKE IT. Unlike some AEN’s, we allow you to use those sales pitches that used to work so well in days past.
To avoid confusing the surfer, you might consider a two page tour, with the first page concentrating on telling them everything that your site has to offer, with the second page letting them know all the advantages of joining Sex Pictures Pass.
If you do a one page tour, you should decide what you want to push more . . . your site, or the AVS system itself. If your site is only going to have 20 pictures on it, you might find it better to promote the system, whereas, if your site has 1,000’s of pictures, you might want to promote your site instead.
As I mentioned above, building a site that just meets the minimal requirements may not exactly be the right road to take if you want to be one of the affiliates that get checks every two weeks, or if you want those checks to be in the thousands. I have found that the sites that do the very best, offer some substance to them, and then make sure that the surfer knows what they are going to get if they buy a membership.
An example of this would be cherryredass.com. If you look at the tour you will notice that they show thumbnails of everything that will be available to the members, however, if you click the thumbnails it takes you to the join page.
This model has been quite successful, and as long as you know how to do .htaccess should give you great results (I will cover htaccess in a future entry).
Tomorrow we will discuss building the members area, however, in the meantime I am going to suggest that everyone check out the SEO blog that goodgirl is writing. She is writing a step-by-step tutorial on how to build a search engine friendly website, and will include an AVS site in her tutorial.
Since it is important that your AVS site gets picked up by the search engines as part of your pro-active stance on promoting your site, it only makes sense that you build the site with search engines in mind.
