[adrotate group=\”1\”]
Unfortunately, it is going to have to be put on hold for a while as I am leaving for a bit and did not feel like buying a bunch of veggies, only to have them go bad while I was gone.
Day 181, the last day of June. Here in Southern California, at least by the beach, it is not very sunny in the month of June. In fact, I remember as a kid they used to shoot fireworks off the Redondo Beach barge for the 4th of July and it was constantly rescheduled for a couple weeks later because of the low marine layer. Anyway. today\’s picture of the day is a pretty good example of what the weather is like around here in June.
Even though my cameras seem to want to mess with me, I am keeping up with the picture a day concept. Here are my latest contributions.
As you may have noticed, I take pictures of my food before I eat it. On day 176 my picture of the day was of Buddy\’s food, while he was eating it.
Day 177 was Saturday, and I typically stick around home so Tanya can have the day off. Buddy and I played around with the Canon. I think he is learning to deal with the constant click of the cameras around here.
Day 178 was a pretty interesting day. Was going to ride to Lake Arrowhead to take some photos. Then the flash unit on the Canon did not want to work so I grabbed the point and shoot and headed off to meet Daniel. Turned out his bike developed problems so we never made it to Lake Arrowhead. Turned out the battery was dead on the point and shoot as well. My picture of the day is a test shot I took with the Canon after reading about a \”fix\” for the Canon.
Today is Day 179. Once again, Bank of America has decided to change my credit card number making my life a hassle. I decided it was only fair that I make life difficult for them. Decided that I will start closing accounts with them, one at a time. I refuse to accept their checks. If anyone has a recommendation for a decent bank, I am all ears.
As mentioned before, I am not really inclined to post these pictures daily, so today will be one of my catch up days for my picture a day project.
Day 173 was pretty uneventful, so nothing really to photograph. I took this on my night walk with Buddy.
Day 174 I got the car washed and my assistant brought her car over to be detailed. Juan does great work. If you live in the South Bay and want a recommendation for a car detailer, let me know.
Today is Day 175. I received some special chocolate from a friend that insists it is healthy and will make me feel better. I plan on trying it daily and reporting back on the results.
I guess it is pretty bad when I can not come up with an interesting title, but there you go. I think part of it is that I committed to this but I do not want to be. I think it is safe to say I will not be doing this on 2011. My picture of the day is of Buddy getting a dental treat. He loves them.
Plans fell apart early today so I decided to say screw it and do nothing. Buddy was pretty happy to see that. We played fetch and he let me take some pictures of him. Day 171 picture of the day is the last shot of the day.
Today, my daughter-in-law graduated with an MBA. Since seating was extremely limited, I was unable to attend the ceremony but met up with friends and family at an eatery later to celebrate. Day 170 picture of the day is my daughter-in-law with one of her friends at the party.
Last week I was in Las Vegas for a trade show that was being held at the Hard Rock Hotel. While I have a place in Vegas, my girlfriend likes the pillows at the Hard Rock so when business calls me to Vegas and the event is held at the Hard Rock Hotel, we opt to stay there rather than a mile away at my place. Within a couple days of my arrival, I received an email from their \”media specialist\” who had seen links to one of my other blogs on several other websites. He wanted me to \”spread the word\” about their hotel and casino. When I responded with an extremely reasonable request in exchange for this promotion, it was ignored. I guess the only good publicity is free publicity. Well, now they will get that.
On Saturday, as I was unpacking, I realized that in my haste to get back home I left some items in the closet of the hotel room. These items were a pair of slacks with a belt, a dress shirt, three ties and a tie clasp. I immediately called the Hard Rock\’s Lost and Found Department and sure enough, they had my items. I gave them my contact info and address and was told to call back on Monday, June 14 to find out when the items would be sent out and by what means. I told them I did not have a problem covering the costs for the return of my property. Monday morning I was told that the items would go out later that day or Tuesday. I was appreciative and prepared to give the Hard Rock Hotel the advertising they requested.
Wednesday morning I received a package from the Hard Rock. I was surprised when I opened the package. While the slacks, shirt and ties were enclosed, the belt and tie clasp were missing. I suppose it is possible that the tie clasp broke and fell off the tie as they moved the tie from the coat hanger it was on to the bag they put it in, but it is impossible for the belt to just fall off. With both items missing, there is no question that someone decided that they could use the belt and tie clasp. I can only guess that they did not appreciate my taste in ties as each of them had more value than the items they decided to keep.
After making the post on my blog, I shared it on my Facebook account. It was then that the plot thickened. Within a few hours of my posting about it on Facebook, I began hearing of multiple instances of credit card theft happening to people attending our conference. Between four and six people have said that their credit cards compromised! I guess some people think that it is easier to hit a conference than individuals as many people use expense accounts, so less likelihood of it being noticed. Of course, that is just speculation. However, I know that my property was stolen, not lost. I do know that there are several people from our group that are suggesting their credit card numbers were compromised. To me, where there is smoke there is a good chance that there is a fire.
So, pursuant to James Cooley\’s request, I will spread the word about the Hard Rock Hotel. That word is to make sure you check your credit card closely after staying there. Also, make sure you check your room three times before leaving and there seems to be a 50-50 chance of you recovering your property should you mistakenly leave it behind.
Back in April, Tanya bought Buddy a bandanna at a Harley shop in Utah. Buddy loves wearing it. I take it off him every night and he comes up to have me put it on every morning. He feels special with it, I guess. Last night, when I went to remove it, it was not there. There were only two possibilities. Either he lost it in the back yard when I put him back there after our walk . . . or he lost it on the walk. A quick walk through the yard made it clear it was somewhere in the mile or so we had walked. We retraced our steps this morning. My picture of the day for day 169 is the results of our search.
Yes, you may have heard that the Lakers beat the Celtics in game 7 of the NBA championship series. As a native Californian I have grown up realizing that with LA teams, it really is not over until it is over. As far as I am concerned, this game was not secured until Sasha Vujacic stepped up to sink two free throws with only 11.7 seconds to play. The Lakers\’ two point lead was suddenly four, and the final nail was in the Celtics\’ coffin. My picture of the day number 168 features Sasha Vujacic as he is at the line, prepared to sink the second shot.
