Photos of the 55th Annual Armed Forces Day Parade

Saturday afternoon, the City of Torrance hosted their 55th Annual Armed Forces Day Parade, the longest running military parade sponsored by any city in the United States. Each year a different branch of the military is honored with this year being the Navy. The Grand Marshal was United States Navy Rear Admiral Patrick J Lorge. In addition to the dignitaries, high school and military marching bands, and military equipment there were several aerial flyovers and a mass swearing in of about 600 young men and women to various branches of the armed forces. While it was a pretty hot day, …

Torrance 54th Annual Armed Forces Day Parade

On Saturday, Torrance held their 54th Annual Armed Forces Day Parade, the longest running military parade sponsored by any city in the United States. Prior to the event I was reading about how much smaller the parade would be this year due to budget constraints as a result of the sequester. This was my third time attending the parade in the last few years, and while there were slight changes this year, I cannot say that there were not similar cutbacks prior to the sequester. Either way, it was a fun event for the entire family and Torrance Boulevard was …

These photos are of Division II till the end, of the 2012 Torrance Armed Forces Day Parade. These photos begin with the North High School Saxon Regiment and Color Guard. Parade entries include several ROTC and JROTC’s; as well as Navy and Coast Guard floats. My alma mater, Bishop Montgomery, returned to the parade with one of the more entertaining high school marching bands I have seen in a while. Photos from the Torrance Armed Forces Day Parade, Division One

As I have far too many photos from the Torrance 53rd Annual Armed Forces Day Parade, I have broken the photos up into three groups. The first group included arriving dignitaries and the Prologue Division of the parade; these photos are from Division I which encompasses parade entries 13-44. This includes the swearing in of the Air Force cadets, the West High School marching band, a couple flyovers and some military hardware. The watermark was donated to my favorite charity, the Rheumatoid Patient Foundation, the only charity just for people with Rheumatoid Autoimmune Disease otherwise known as Rheumatoid Arthritis.

53rd Annual Armed Forces Day Parade in Torrance – Dignitaries and Prologue

These photos were taken Saturday at the 53rd Annual Torrance Armed Forces Day Parade. Torrance is one of the few cities in the United States that has an Armed Forces Day Parade and they have been doing it longer and better than anyone. I read somewhere that this is the largest Armed Forces Day Parade west of the Mississippi River. Since it is the biggest, that means I got a ton of photos; so many that it would be difficult to navigate through all of them if you are looking for something specific. As a result, I am going to …

Getting All Wet

As you may have gathered by now, I enjoy taking photographs. Sometimes I will walk the extra mile to get that special shot. Sometimes that may put me in harms way. Today is Day 135 of Project 365 and my daily photo is taken at the 51st Annual Armed Forces Day Parade, held in Torrance, CA. I am about to get blasted by a water cannon. The things I do to get a good shot.

Torrance Armed Forces Day Parade [adrotate group=”6″] Photos From the 51st Annual Parade, May 15, 2010 Today was the 51st Annual Armed Forces Day Parade, held in Torrance CA. Although I have live in the South Bay since 1965, I am pretty sure that this is the first time I have attended this parade. I have to admit, it was a pretty nice parade. They had representatives of every branch of the armed services, and from what I gather, every year they honor a different branch of the military. This year was the US Coast Guard. They had a couple …
