Smog City Brewing Opens & Strand Brewers Club Party

Saturday was day six of the 2013 American Craft Beer Week and in keeping with the theme of the week these photos are from the Smog City Brewing grand opening and a birthday party for the President of the Strand Brewers Club, a local home brewers club. If you have been following this site recently, you probably noticed that Smog City Brewing, a 2012 Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal winner, has been holding a few soft-opens in preparation for their grand opening. A visit to Craft Brewing Co and Claremont Craft Ales

I am usually the one trying to get someone to go for a bike ride and coming up with the destinations, so when my friend Phil asked me if I wanted to join him for a ride out to Chino I said yes and searched Google for a microbrewery in the area. When I woke up Saturday, I knew it was going to be a great day for a ride as it was already 70 at 9:00 AM. Business N Beer’s return visit to Sophie’s Place, Redondo Beach

These photos are from our Business & Beer networking group’s return to Sophie’s Place in Redondo Beach last night. Sophie’s Place is a gastropub that serves really good food and offers 50 varieties of craft beer with eight brews on rotating taps. While our last few Business & Beer gatherings have had six or seven people show up, last night we had about 15. I was happy to see the big turnout, we had a good time. If networking helps your business or it fits into your job description and you live or work in the South Bay, come check …

Business & Beer return visit to The Rockefeller

These photos are from our Business & Beer gathering last Thursday at The Rockefeller Gastropub in Hermosa Beach, CA. The Rockefeller has been one of our favorite destinations since we discovered them back in May. They offer a wide selection of craft beers on tap and have a food menu that seems to change with the seasons. You can always find something interesting on it. In addition, they constantly have wine and beer tastings and various food specials going on what seems daily. You should check them out if you haven’t, it is always a pleasant experience. Our group was …

3rd Annual BAM Fest Santa Monica

Saturday, October 6, was the 3rd Annual BAM Fest (Beer, Art and Music Festival), which is a fundraiser benefiting the 18th Street Arts Center. I have been talking to many of the local brewmasters about this event and I heard nothing but good things about it; now I know why. This was a very fun event with beautiful weather, beautiful people, good food, good music and some really great beers. All of the local micro breweries were represented with Strand Brewing, Monkish Brewing, The Brewery at Abigaile, El Segundo Brewing and Smog City all showing up. There were over 30 …
