These photos were taken at Leal’s Mexican Restaurant in Amarillo, TX, then along Route 66 in New Mexico and El Malpais National Monument. I stopped in Amarillo, TX for a late lunch, early dinner. A local radio station ad piqued my interest, so I headed for Leal’s. The food was okay, but Southern California has the best Mexican food anywhere. As I continued into New Mexico I came upon a roadside stand outside of Laguna. Photos from a day in New Mexico

These photos were taken at Bayard, Hurley, City of Rocks, Las Cruces, White Sands, Roswell and Portales, NM. They were having lots of fires in the forest at the border, and the heavy wind was mixing the smoke and sand so that visibility was terrible throughout most of the state. After leaving AZ we visited Bayard and Hurley, then stumbled up the City of Rocks. It was a very cool place as it is surrounded bu flat desert then the city of rocks pops up. Photos from the Walnut Canyon National Monument

Monday we woke up to a windy morning in Flagstaff, AZ. After a quick breakfast and finding the local Starbucks, we hit the road. My uncle had stated a desire to visit Roswell, NM, so I headed gradually south as we went east. Along the way, we came across the Walnut Canyon National Monument Cliff Dwellings. My girlfriend and I have seen cliff dwellings in a few places, including Mesa Verde in Colorado, but these were cool in that you could easily walk down to some of them and check them out, up close.
