Candy Cane Lane returns to Sleepy Hollow

It is that time of year again, when the residents of the Seaside area of South Torrance, also known as Sleepy Hollow, show true community cooperation by decorating entire blocks in an extravaganza of Christmas lights, transforming the neighborhood into Candy Cane Lane. A tradition that, by all verifiable accounts, began in 1985 has become seemingly more popular with each successive year; if not with the residents most definitely with the visitors that come to view the lights. In prior years it seemed that you had to know where you were going in order to find the decorated neighborhood. This …

Sleepy Hollow brings back the Christmas lights

With a tradition that has gone on since 1985, the Christmas lights in the Sleepy Hollow section of Torrance have been put back up in its transformation to Candy Cane Lane. December is here and that means that the Sleepy Hollow area of Torrance has been transformed once again to Candy Cane Lane. Last night was the first night of the Sleepy Hollow Christmas Light Extravaganza so we decided to take a drive over and see if the neighborhood was ready yet. Since it was the first weekend not all the homes appeared to be ready yet; but as it was a little rainy the crowds were minimal so it was okay. You can be sure that as Christmas draws closer there will be more and more homes decorated and the …

Christmas Lights at Candy Cane Lane in Sleepy Hollow 2011

These photos were taken on December 4, 2011 in Torrance, CA. Every year at this time the Sleepy Hollow section of Torrance goes all out with the Christmas decorations and the area is transformed into Candy Cane Lane. I remember the first time I went there. It made Disneyland’s nighttime lights seem rather tame in comparison. This is great fun for the entire family. You can drive up and down the streets, or park and enjoy the decorations up close, maybe meet Santa Claus himself or partake in some hot chocolate and homemade cookies. I usually go two or three …
