Strand Brewing Co Pint Night at Naja’s Place

These photos are from Strand Brewing Company’s Pint Night at the world famous Naja’s Place, located on the International Boardwalk at the Redondo Beach Pier. This event was to commemorate Strand Brewing Company’s three years of brewing craft ales and was held at Naja’s Place because they were the first location to pour Strand Brewing Company beer. For Thursday’s celebration, Strand provided these fine brews:

Beach House Amber Ale
24th Street Pale Ale
Atticus IPA
Black Sand Double IPA
Bagheera East IPA
Special Cask of Double Dry Hopped Atticus IPA

The event started at 6:00 PM and advertised that the first 50 attendees got to keep their glassware with the Strand Brewing Company logo. We had Business & Beer starting the same time, so I did not make it until 8:30. Judging by the crowd they had, the glassware was probably gone by 6:30; Naja’s Place was absolutely packed. I wanted to try the Atticus on cask, but that was gone long before I arrived; I will have to wait. It is obvious that Rich Marcello and Joel Elliot, co-owners of Strand Brewing Company, have built a very strong following; they are to be congratulated for a job well done. Here is to three more years, and then some. Continue reading

Photos from Business N Beer at Sophie’s Place

These photos are from our weekly Business & Beer gathering, which was held last night at Sophie’s Place in the Riviera Village section of Redondo Beach. Sophie’s Place is a family run gastropub, run by three brothers, and it is one place that always makes us feel like family; whether we come in as a group or by ourselves. Besides having a very nice beer list, with eight beers available on rotating taps and about 50 varieties available in bottles, they have a great food menu. Last night, Tanya and I tried a Yeti Float which is made with vanilla bean ice cream and chocolate syrup, and topped with a Yeti Imperial Stout from Great Divide Brewing Company. It was pretty good, although I think next time we will get the chocolate on the side so Tanya can have her chocolate and I can taste the beer.

If you live or work in the South Bay area and find networking to be a valuable asset to your business; and you enjoy American craft beer, you should consider joining us sometime for Business & Beer. We meet every Thursday at a different microbrewery, brewpub or gastropub in the South Bay area. The schedule is found on the front page of BusinessNBeer.com. Good people, good beer and good food make for a winning combination. How can you go wrong? I hope to see you there sometime. Continue reading

Business & Beer at Brewco, Manhattan Beach

These photos are from our Business & Beer gathering at Brewco, a gastropub in Manhattan Beach, CA. Brewco was initially opened about 20 years ago as Manhattan Beach Brewing Company. From what I can tell, they stopped brewing beer on location sometime in 2009 at which point it re-opened as Brewco. Brewco offers about 50 beers on tap, with most of them being craft beers from around the world. They also offer several bottled craft beers and frequently have hard to find brews available.

This was the first time that we brought Business & Beer to this location and it was a great success. We had about 15 people show up, with many of them being first time attendees. I would venture to say that even if this was not our largest group, it may have had the most productive networking of any of our events to date. I know that one of our first-timers sells stained glass, and we had someone that was in the process of trying to find someone that does stained glass. Talk about a random hookup; this is exactly what Business & Beer is all about. Supporting local businesses and enjoying craft beer while generating business for our attendees. Continue reading
