Photos from the Painted Desert

After leaving the meteor crater we headed towards the Painted Desert. The Painted Desert is the entry to Arizona’s Petrified Forest National Park. Since the day was drawing to a close and I have visited several petrified forests in the past, I decided that we would skip this one and just enjoy the beauty of the Painted Desert. I have seen it from the opposite side, but it was nowhere near as nice as this. After photographing the Painted Desert we headed on to Springerville, where we enjoyed a great meal at the Safire Restaurant & Lounge. They make most …

Photos from Meteor Crater, Arizona

These photos are from the Meteor Crater by Meteor City, AZ. This giant hole in the ground was created about 50,000 years ago when a meteor crashed into the Earth at an estimated 26,000 miles per hour. It is pretty amazing when you look at the size of the crater and think about what kind of devastation it must have caused at the time. One moment you are surrounded by forests, then vast expanses of nothing. It was very windy, with gusts up to 70 MPH, which the locals say is the norm. Back to Meteor Crater Photos Back to …

Photos from the Walnut Canyon National Monument

Monday we woke up to a windy morning in Flagstaff, AZ. After a quick breakfast and finding the local Starbucks, we hit the road. My uncle had stated a desire to visit Roswell, NM, so I headed gradually south as we went east. Along the way, we came across the Walnut Canyon National Monument Cliff Dwellings. My girlfriend and I have seen cliff dwellings in a few places, including Mesa Verde in Colorado, but these were cool in that you could easily walk down to some of them and check them out, up close. Photos from Mother’s Day in Arizona

My uncle and I decided to take a little drive today. We stayed on I-40 most of the day, as I have not really driven it since the late 1980’s. It was a really nice day with just the right amount of cloud cover to make interesting shadows on the mountains and the desert is blooming nicely. We ended up in Flagstaff, AZ. It was too dark to get photos of it by the time we got here, so these photos are from Ludlow and Kingman, AZ. Return to Mother’s Day Photos Return to Mother’s Day Photos

Photos from the Jenny Krebs fundraiser

Long time El Segundo resident, Jennifer Krebs, was recently diagnosed with stage three cancer. Since she will be starting chemo therapy soon, and El Segundo being the tight knit community it is, friends and family threw a fundraiser Friday night at Harry O’s. A small donation at the door was requested with all proceeds going towards Krebs’ medical costs. Entertainment was provided by Hoist the Colors, which I can only describe as an Irish folk/rock band. There was a silent auction and a donation bucket that was passed along all evening. Judging by the smiles it appeared that everyone was …

Photos from Thursday at APPNation Conference

These photos are from Thursday at the APPNation Conference. Since I had to ride back to Los Angeles and traffic out of San Francisco is, in a word, horrific, so I decided to cut out a little early. These photos do include the morning keynote and panel sessions as well as some exhibit hall and sponsored workshop sessions. I had a great time at this mobile application marketing event and would like to thank everyone involved in making it an educational show. I hope to return. Photos from APPNation Chairman’s Reception

After a long day of panels, workshops and walking around the APPNation expo, it was time for a little networking the old fashioned way, a few drinks. These photos are from the Chairman’s Reception, held at The Barrel House. The event was sponsored by AT&T Interactive, Flixster, UM and Sequoia Capital. Judging by the smiles on the faces, everyone had a great time. Back to the Chairman’s Reception Photos Back to the Chairman’s Reception Photos

Photos from APPNation workshops

These photos are of the various workshops and the press briefing from Wednesday at the APPNation Conference. One thing that no one can argue, APPNation was non-stop. After the keynotes, interviews and panel discussions they broke for lunch. Well, I guess some people broke for lunch. For others, there were several sponsored lunch workshops. There was also a press briefing and then the workshops really started. For the next four hours there were three workshops every half hour or so. Topics were suited for mobile application developers as well as those that wanted to monetize apps in one way or …

APPNation Conference photos – Panel Sessions

These photos were taken at the various panel sessions held Wednesday at the APPNation Conference, SF. It is said that one picture is worth 1,000 words, but as I review these photos I am afraid that is not really the case. The best I can do is provide photos of the people, their names at times and some charts. A video would be required to truly convey the information provided at this mobile application marketing event. The theme of “Show Me the Money” was quite evident with the topics covered. Return To APPNation Panel Photos Return To APPNation Panel Photos

APPNation Conference expo photos

Along with the many workshops and panel sessions, which went on literally all day long, there was an exhibit hall. There were quite a few exhibitors with everything from new mobile applications looking to get discovered, to mobile app developers, to app stores, to Samsung and Yahoo. In my opinion, if you are thinking of getting into monetizing or developing mobile applications, there was something there for you. Back To APPNation Expo Photos Back To APPNation Expo Photos
