9/11 memorial at Pepperdine University

These photos are of the 9/11 Memorial at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. It is really hot here today. Not muggy, but hot nonetheless. Tanya has been feeling better and asked if I wanted to go for a bike ride where it might be a little cooler. I really did not need much convincing, so we hopped on the Limited and I headed towards to Hwy 1, northbound. When we got to Pepperdine University in Malibu I could not help but notice all the flags so I pulled over to get a few shots. Apparently this is an annual event …

Christmas morning bike ride

Regular readers to this blog have probably figured out that I have a few Christmas traditions that may not be your typical Norman Rockwell Christmas scenario. Of course, Norman Rockwell did not live by the Southern California beaches, so that might have something to do with it. Of all the traditions I have, the one that probably goes back the furthest is my Christmas morning bike ride. These are photos from that ride. Since there are several shopping malls by me and the streets have been packed since Thanksgiving, I take advantage of the fact that the streets are virtually …

Photos from a day at Venice Beach

Today, my friend, Phil, and I headed out to Venice Beach to check out the 4th Annual National Go-Topless Day march. The march was to “protest unconstitutional topless gender discrimination.” The idea being that it is not fair that men can go topless but women can not. To be honest, I agree with the cause but I foresee men being forced to cover up before women will be allowed to go bare. We shall see. It was a beautiful summer day, we took the bikes. Unbelievable as it sounds [to anyone that has tried to park in Venice on a …

Past and Present

When I was younger, I seemed to be a lot more meticulous about cleaning my bike. It may have had something to do with the fact that I only owned one at time, or else because I had an actual 8 hour a day job. Today, I would rather ride than wash. My picture of the day for day 64 of Project365 is a pic of me with my ’86 and 2010 Harleys.

A nice day for a ride

So, my girlfriend came into town a couple days ago, and I finally got a photo of us together. We had a trade show in Hollywood to attend, and since February is one of the nicer times of the year to go for a motorcycle ride, we took advantage of the weather and beat the traffic by taking the Limited. My photo of the day for day 40 of Project365 is of Tanya and I cruising across I-10 on the way to Hollywood.

Barger Harley-Davidson Chili Cook Off Photos

Last Saturday, my buddy Phil and I took a ride out to Canoga Park to Barger Harley-Davidson for their open house and to check out the chili cook off. It was in the mid-80’s so while it may not have made for ideal chili weather, it was a great day for a bike ride. The chili was pretty good. What surprised me was that I liked the vegetarian version best.

Photos of the Easyriders Bike Show Sacramento

A few weeks ago, I entered a photo contest at a motorcycle forum and won an honorable mention. The prize was a pass to the Easyriders Bike Show which was coming to Los Angeles. Unfortunately, I was out of town that weekend at an Internet marketing trade show. I had a suspicion that I had won the honorable mention because the forum owners knew I would bring my camera and provide some photos for their members. Since it was in the mid-80’s at my place on Friday, and there did not appear to be a threat of rain between LA …

Time to start a new year

I am going to continue with my photo of the day project, also known as Project 365. While I really had to force myself to complete the project for 2010, I did it and I am glad I did. I had thought about switching it up a little, like have a different theme each month, but I am not sure how I want to approach this. I guess for now I will see if I can do an entire month with me in the daily photo. Last year, I made it 18 days before I started using photos of inanimate …

My Project 365 Year End Gallery

It has been a year since I changed the format of GotBaddog.com. In that time, I have done a lot of traveling and I have taken a lot of photos. I would not even hazard a guess as to how many photos I take in a year, I just know I am glad we use memory cards instead of film these days. In the past year, Tanya and I have visited AZ, NV, UT, NM, CO, OK, TX, LA, MS, AR, TN, KY, MO, NE, IA, IN, SD KS, IL, WY, Ireland, Spain and The Netherlands. I also went to …

Merry Christmas from GotBaddog

I have mentioned a couple of Christmas traditions I have in prior posts, but my favorite of all has to be my Christmas morning ride. As I am sure most of you are aware, the day after Thanksgiving starts the Christmas shopping season. This means one thing to me, lots of traffic. There are several large malls within a five mile perimeter so we get lots of traffic. I have lived in homes that were virtually impossible to get out of the driveway because of the amount of traffic. It makes owning a motorcycle pretty handy. On Christmas morning the …
