These photos are from the 2011 Baker to Vegas, 27th Annual Challenge Cup Relay festivities at the Hilton. The afternoon started off with Unofficial Results being posted and the adjustment of point calculations beginning. There were penalty assessments for various infractions, each being assigned a time deduction value. The scene outside reminded me of seeing a bunch of students gathered around the bulletin board to find their test scores. Various groups had booths raising funds and advertising. Photos from the 27th Annual Challenge Cup Relay

This weekend was the 27th Annual Challenge Cup, Baker to Vegas Relay. Law enforcement personnel from around the world take part in this event which is a 120 mile run from Baker, CA to Pahrump, NV and then on to Las Vegas. From what I have seen and been told, there are about 6,000 runners involved. I do not know if you have ever driven this route, but while being a pretty drive, I can not imagine running for fun through this part of the desert. Baker High School Fundraiser Photos

This weekend was the 27th Annual Challenge Cup Relay, Baker to Vegas 2011. Since I sponsored the Riverside Sheriff’s Office, Correctional Unit, Team 255 I decided to take a drive out to Death Valley and photograph the event. Many, if not all the teams started off by meeting at Baker High School. The students took advantage of this by having a fundraiser, with a pancake breakfast, bake sale, barbecued burgers and selling things like ice and trinkets. Another fine day in paradise

Whenever I go away for a while, there is one thing I really look forward to upon arriving home. The weather. On my last day riding home from Sturgis I had to get up early so I could leave Las Vegas before it got too warm. The reason for this is that no matter how hot Las Vegas is, Baker and Barstow are probably going to be hotter. At least in the summer. It is exactly the opposite in the winter.
