Business & Beer

Business & Beer makes a return visit to Alpine Inn, Torrance

These photos are from our Business & Beer meet-up at the Alpine Inn at Alpine Village in Torrance. It was our 15th gathering and we had 15 attendees; coincidence? Probably. I have to say I was pretty surprised at the number of people that came out. The last time we did Business & Beer at Alpine Inn we only had eight people come out. That was pretty much the reason that we set Alpine Village as the furthest south we would venture with our group. If we continue to grow the way we are, I may have to consider expanding our reach a little.

Next week, October 25, Business & Beer will be headed to El Segundo Brewing Company (ESBC), in El Segundo, CA. El Segundo Brewing is a micro brewery that creates some of the finest hand-crafted ales in the South Bay. Usually the micro breweries we visit do not provide food, however, since it is football season they will have tacos available. I have been informed that they will try to have something special to tap for that evening. In addition, because our group is growing, we will likely meet inside the brewhouse. It should be a great time.

If you are a business owner in the South Bay and/or networking is an important part of your business model, you should consider joining us. To stay current with our upcoming events you can get on our mailing list and Like Us on Facebook. We support local brewers and local business so come on down. The worst that can happen is you will have a good beer with some good people. Hope to see you soon. Continue reading

Hot Sünner Nights at Select Beer

These photos were taken Wednesday evening, June 20, the first day of summer at Select Beer in Redondo Beach. To celebrate the Summer Solstice, Select Beer brought out the Sünner Kölsch, the classic beer of Cologne, Germany. After a couple tastes of it, there is no doubt it is a summer beer as it is very light. Probably tasty after chopping down trees in the Black Forest. I know the store was packed, and it was obvious most were there for the Sunner Kolsch.

After sampling the Sünner Kölsch we opted for something a little more stout and enjoyed the company of other like-minded beer drinkers. Speaking of like-minded beer drinkers, we are starting a new networking group for business owners in the South Bay. It is called Business & Beer and unlike the other business networking groups that have mandatory meetings, dues and occur before work or during lunch, we have none of that. The networking events will occur every Thursday at 6:00 PM and go on until 7:00 PM. Of course, if you are enjoying yourself you are more than welcome to stay later. Each week we will go to a different microbrewery, brewpub or gastropub in the South Bay area. The common denominator will be that they serve craft beer on tap and are a local business. Our first planned event will be at Select Beer Store in Redondo Beach on July 12. It looks like Abigaile in Hermosa Beach will be on the 19th. Stay tuned for more information. Following me on Facebook will ensure you always hear first. I hope lots of you can join us. Continue reading
