Dog Wash?

I do not know what it is about water, but it seems that whenever Buddy is freshly groomed he is more apt to walk through mud puddles or he will run through sprinklers. If he needs grooming he is more likely to avoid things like sprinklers. I guess he just enjoys that wet dog smell. Day 237 of my photo a day project was taken while Buddy and I were walking through the park. If you look closely, behind the mist of the first sprinkler you can see the white tip of Buddy’s tail. He was pretty well soaked by …

Harley Arty

Shortly after purchasing the new Limited, okay, on the way home from purchasing the Limited I stopped by at some friends’ home to show off my new bike. While there, one of their neighbors came by. As it turned out, he makes his money by detailing Harley-Davidsons and his nickname is Harley Arty. I took his business card and made a mental note to remember him for the future. When I came back from Sturgis, the bike was in a word, filthy. About 10 pounds of dead bugs and lots of road grime made it clear that if I was …

A Late Night Visitor

I had planned using a different photo for day 235 of my picture a day project, known as Project 365 in some circles. I was going to talk about the new vacuum cleaner I got and how I purchased it so Tanya would have everything she needed to keep the house spotless, and I could get rid of the maids. It would have been mildly amusing at best. Before I got around to posting the entry, Buddy and I went for a walk. When we got home, Buddy started going nuts. It was quite dark, so I could not see …

Morning Walks

Every morning and every evening that I am home, Buddy and I go out a walk a mile or two. It is said that a walk in the neighborhood is like reading the local paper for dogs. If this is true, Buddy is getting his fill of The Daily Breeze, the LA Times and USA Today. On top of that, we get to meet new dogs and see some interesting items along the way. That is why I bring a camera with me for every walk. My picture of the day for day 234 was taken on our morning walk. …

Another fine day in paradise

Whenever I go away for a while, there is one thing I really look forward to upon arriving home. The weather. On my last day riding home from Sturgis I had to get up early so I could leave Las Vegas before it got too warm. The reason for this is that no matter how hot Las Vegas is, Baker and Barstow are probably going to be hotter. At least in the summer. It is exactly the opposite in the winter. Even though I left at 8:20 AM, the coolest temperatures I dealt with were in the upper 90’s, and …

A Picture a Day, July 2010

Photo of the Day, Project 365 [adrotate group=”6″] July 2010 Photos Sorry this is late, but there was a legitimate reason which I will not go into here. July was a pretty active month. It started off with some friends taking me out to dinner and then to see Devo in concert. It was pretty fun. I should probably put up a gallery from the show. The next day I flew to Indiana to visit Tanya and to participate in the annual GotWebHost.com 4th of July Extravaganza. Tanya flew home with me to attend VidCon and then we spent several …

Back to the grind

While it may seem that I do not work very hard, nothing could be further from the truth. The fact is, the trip to Sturgis was the closest thing to a real vacation I have had in quite a while. These other travels have been more like working road trips. Naturally, I did fit in some work while on the trip, but it was secondary. Yesterday was my first full day back home, so I had lots of paperwork to take care of, and Buddy needed his trip to the groomer. My photo of the day for Day 231 is …

Motocross

Yesterday, we took a ride through Spearfish Canyon, visited Deadwood, watched some motocross and visited a very nice petrified forest that happened to be behind our cabin. While at the races I was able to practice my action shots with the Canon and am very happy with the results. I gave a stack of my business cards to a track official that said he knew most of the parents of the racers. If you received one of the cards and came here looking for the photos I took, you are a little early. I am working with a slow connection, …

Sharing Sturgis

Last May, I came through South Dakota and Sturgis with Tanya, and all I could do was talk about how much more fun it would be if we were on a bike, riding down these open roads. Today, we lived the experience. She drove from IN to meet me, and today we went into Sturgis and cruised Main Street. We then rode to Rapid City to hit the Harley dealer as I had gotten a short that caused my tail light to not come on. I suspect it was from this huge bump I hit somewhere in CO. It was …

Sturgis!

Long day yesterday, which is why this post is a day late. I started the day off at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for a saline drip. Apparently, I am not as young as I used to be and with the extreme heat I had been dealing with I got severely dehydrated. I thought I had been drinking enough water along the way, but I guess not. My picture of the day for day 224 is of two gentlemen I met at Mule Creek Junction, WY. They were with a group called Free Ice Water Services and they were providing …
