Beautiful Midwest Skies [adrotate group=”6″] The Drive From Kansas to South Dakota Woke up in Kansas City, KS and it looked like it rained in the few hours I slept. This was confirmed when I took Buddy out for his morning walk when it began pouring buckets, complete with lightning and thunder. I guess it was the fringe of the storm that caused all the tornadoes that touched down everywhere we had already traveled to. While our initial plans were to spend the night in Hannibal, MO we got a little distracted along the way. We came across the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in hopes on finding Lincoln’s tomb. Road Trip Day 8 [adrotate group=”6″] Sights From Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana Yesterday, I commented that the plains of Texas and Oklahoma were, in a word, plain. Today was the opposite. We took I-35 south to I-20 east and it was quite scenic. It is easy to see why they call Louisiana the Sportsman’s Paradise. Tomorrow we pay a visit to Camp Shelby in Mississippi to deliver about 200 tubes of lip balm to troops headed to Afghanistan. Then, more sightseeing. [adrotate group=”1″]

Road Trip Photos [adrotate group=”6″] Mesa Verde National Park Today’s photos are of Mesa Verde National Park. It is known for having some of the best preserved cliff dwellings that the Pueblo people used for 700 years. That is some endurable construction! It was cool seeing things that I have only seen pictures of. We needed to put some miles on, and we spent longer than anticipated at Mesa Verde, so we headed to Gallup, NM to hole up for the night. Road Trip Photos, Day Four [adrotate group=”6″] Green River, UT to Cortez, CO Started off the day in one of Butch Cassidy’s old haunts, Green River, UT. We then headed over to Moab and Arches National Park. Beautiful place, and very photogenic. After several hours there we decided to head to CO. Day 94 of my daily photo journal, known as Project 365. Today was spent primarily in the garage as we worked on my son’s bike, replacing his wheels with the ones I gave him for his birthday tomorrow. At one point, Buddy was nowhere to be found. Turns out he had decided to help himself to the trunk of my car. He has never been in there before, and I certainly never offered it to him. A week ago I happened across a gentleman that was detailing a car belonging to one of my neighbors. I stopped and talked to him, and requested he come by my house to give me an estimate for detailing my Charger. He never came by. A few days later I saw him detailing a car belonging to another neighbor. I asked him what happened to my visit and he said he was looking on the wrong side of the street.
