TACC Networking at Noon for June at Tony Roma’s

Yesterday was the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) Networking at Noon for June; and this time it was held at the Tony Roma’s in Torrance. The Networking at Noon is held monthly at various restaurants in the Torrance, CA area and gives members of the Torrance Chamber additional opportunities to exchange business cards with other local business owners or their representatives. Every attendee is given 30 seconds to talk about who they are and what service or product their business provides. I took the opportunity to explain why it is I have my camera with me at all times and how I use the photos to promote local businesses and charities. I think they are starting to notice.

In addition to the “30 second intros” each month one person is named the spotlight speaker and gets 5 minutes to talk about what they do. I can’t wait to get that opportunity. There are door prizes given out and Synergy-DTI, Inc gave away an SEO report to a lucky winner that was getting ready to purchase it. I know she was happy she showed up.

2012 Palos Verdes Street Fair Saturday: Food, Vendors and Contests

These photos are from Saturday, June 9 at the 2012 Palos Verdes Street Fair & Music Festival, held in Rolling Hills Estates, CA. These photos will include (in order) the beer garden, featuring local brewers The Brewery at Abigaile and Strand Brewing Co, the food court, Best Pie and Pie Eating Contests and the rest of the vendors. The photos are not in the order or the day since I was bouncing all around. Above each photo is the image ID. The beer garden photos will be named Abigale, beergarden or StrandBrewing. The food court is simply food, then BestPie, PieEatContest, finishing with vendors.

Since one of my company’s goal is to help support and promote local businesses, any business or sponsor that would like to be tagged in the photos, please “Like” my Facebook page and contact me and I will get you set up. A little free advertising never hurt anyone, right?

The Rockefeller Gastropub, Hermosa Beach

Last month, during American Craft Beer Week (ACBW), I accidentally discovered The Rockefeller Gastropub on Pier Avenue in Hermosa Beach. I will never forget our first visit there. It was day six of ACBW and it was my goal to find as many American craft beers that I had never tried before as possible. The fact that I was able to come up with 12 new brews at that point of our adventure truly said something about the quality of the brews they pour. As Colleen, the manager, said, “We try to keep a good turnaround of quality brews.” They are doing a great job. I think it was at The Rockefeller that I first heard the term “gastropub.” For those wondering, a gastropub is a restaurant that specializes in good food with upscale beers brewed by others. A brewpub serves food and their own beer.

I let Tanya chose our meal since we were splitting it, and she opted for the Arugula Parmesan Salad with a Royale Burger. Both were pretty tasty, with my leaning towards the salad. As it turns out, Hangar 24 was doing a beer tasting, so Daren, another manger asked me if we wanted to join in. You can probably guess our response. Since we were staying a little longer we decided to try the Cinnamon Apple Bread Pudding for dessert. I know if we have dessert again, I will be urging a repeat try. Continue reading
