Torrance Firefighters’ 41st Annual Spaghetti Dinner

These photos were taken Saturday at the Torrance Firefighters Association’s 41st Annual Spaghetti Dinner which is a fundraiser to benefit the Alisa Ann Ruch California Burn Foundation (www.aarbf.org). The proceeds go towards sending young burn victims to Champ Camp, a week long summer camp for burn survivors ages 5-16. In addition to the spaghetti dinners served, the women’s auxiliary of the Torrance Firefighters Association had a bake sale with all kinds of homemade goodies.

It was another fine turnout and all the volunteers made sure cups were filled and tables were cleared and set for the next guest. I know there had to have been several hundred people served in the short time we were there and the only time there was a wait was a brief period that they had run out of plates. The servings were big, the food was great and the people were friendly. I recommend marking it on your calendar for next year and bring the entire family. Continue reading

Enjoying a great dinner with friends

Tanya and I went last year and had a great time. While it is put on by the Torrance Firefighters Association, there is participation from agencies all over the area lending a hand. Over the years the Torrance Firefighters Association has served more than 50,000 dinners and raised more than $180,000. This is definitely a family friendly event and is priced to fit any budget at $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for children under the age of 8. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Continue reading

Lady of Magic 2012 New Year’s Eve Party Photos

These photos are from last night’s New Year’s Eve Party at the Redondo Beach Castle; hosted by the Lady of Magic, Sisuepahn Phila. We met Sisuepahn last year when we attended her New Year’s Eve Party 2011. We liked her immediately and immediately recognized that along with being a nice person, she is a really good magician. Sisuepahn puts on various fundraising events using her magic as a draw. She supports several orphanages in Laos and provided assistance to local charities, such as the Midnight Mission in downtown Los Angeles. Last night’s event was to assist the Midnight Mission.

While Sisuepahn did not perform last night, she had several well-respected magicians and mentalists performing including Brian Gillis, Todd Reis, Ryan Oshwald, Jimmy Hunsinger and starring The Amazing Johnathan and Anastasia. It was a great time for a great cause and everyone seemed to be having a great time. It seemed somewhat fitting that the Lady of Magic fundraiser would be the way I started 2012 and it was how I ended it. Have a great 2013, everyone. Continue reading
