David Mann Chopperfest 2011
These photos were taken Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the 8th Annual David Mann Chopperfest, held at the Ventura County Fairgrounds in Ventura, CA. Chopperfest is dedicated to the life and memory of David Mann, arguably the most influential designer in the custom motorcycle world. Besides a bike show that includes some of the most beautiful motorcycles around, there was a motorcycle swap meet, vendors with food, beer, accessories and clothing, music provided by the Bob Carrillo Band and a roller derby exhibition by the Sugartown Rollergirls. Contrary to what you might think, this was fun for the entire family. Read more…

Photos from a day at Venice Beach
Today, my friend, Phil, and I headed out to Venice Beach to check out the 4th Annual National Go-Topless Day march. The march was to “protest unconstitutional topless gender discrimination.” The idea being that it is not fair that men can go topless but women can not. To be honest, I agree with the cause but I foresee men being forced to cover up before women will be allowed to go bare. We shall see.
It was a beautiful summer day, we took the bikes. Unbelievable as it sounds [to anyone that has tried to park in Venice on a Sunday], we actually found free parking for each bike, within 25′ of the boardwalk. As it turned out, the protest started two blocks from a restaurant we wanted to check out, The Venice Ale House. Well, Phil wanted to check out the restaurant, I wanted to check out the beer. They had plenty of different beers on tap and offer 4 and 6 beer flights. I will definitely be back. These photos are of some of the sights that are easily found on the Venice Beach boardwalk, all within two blocks.

Milwaukee and the Wall of Death
Back in May I met up with a cousin I had not seem in 25 or 30 years. Today we headed off on a cross country road trip. He arrived in Valpo last night. Tanya took us to dinner at Gaucho’s Brazilian Steakhouse for a sendoff with a full stomach. Our first stop was Milwaukee where we stopped at AJ Bombers to try out a special burger they had. It was okay.
After lunch we headed over to the Harley-Davidson Museum. There was a Wall of Death set up in the parking let, so Brett and I went over and met Charlie and Wally who owned the operation. They travel more than I do, I think. After watching their show we headed to Reedsburg and at at Cancun Mexican Restaurant. The food was good, and the manager, Juan Carlos was a friendly host.
