American Craft Beer Week at Beachwood BBQ & Brewing

Tuesday was day two of the 2013 American Craft Beer Week (ACBW). Last year, I spent the 7th Annual ACBW going out and discovering as many different American craft beers that I was unfamiliar with. This year, my goal is to visit award winning craft brewers in our area. I am using the list of winners from prior Great American Beer Festivals (GABF); luckily, we have several that are pretty close to us. For day two we headed out to Long Beach and visited Beachwood BBQ & Brewing, a nice brewpub that not only brews award winning beers, but their …

American Craft Beer Week, Day One

Today is the first day of 8th Annual American Craft Beer Week (ACBW). We had such a good time finding new craft beers last year that I decided to try something a little different this year. I am going to do my best to visit as many Great American Beer Festival gold medal award winning breweries as possible. Today we rode down to San Clemente and visited Pizza Port brewing. After a little pizza and beer we headed back to Long Beach with the intentions of visiting Beachwood BBQ & Brewing. I did not know that they were closed on …

Beer Paper LA launch party

These photos are from the Beer Paper LA official launch party which was held last night at Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach. Beer Paper LA is an online and monthly print paper that dedicates its pages to the local breweries and gastropubs in the Los Angeles, Orange County and Inland Empire areas of Southern California. Rather that reviewing individual craft beers, they concentrate on the brewery itself as well as the brewers that make the magic happen. The paper is free and should be found at any of our local microbreweries, bottle shops, homebrew supply stores and your …

Some of our favorite places to eat

I was going through some photos I have taken over the last nine days and decided that since I had not put them online yet, I would take the opportunity to talk about three locations Tanya and I visit on a pretty regular basis; and always have a good time. These locations are Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach; Abigaile Restaurant in Hermosa Beach and Benihana Restaurant in Torrance. The first batch of photos are from Beachwood BBQ & Brewing, a brewpub in Long Beach that specializes in barbecue style foods. As you might imagine, because it is the …

Meetup with the Original Sinners RC

My regular readers are probably aware that our business networking group, Business & Beer, recently joined Meetup.com in an attempt to build on the number of attendees at our weekly gatherings. For those unaware of what Meetup is, it is an online social media site that allows people with common interests to set up offline gatherings. In other words, a social media portal that actually encourages you to get away from Facebook and Twitter for a while. Whether you are looking for a business networking group or people to hunt butterflies with you, there is a good chance meetup.com can …

Beachwood BBQ & Brewing One Year Anniversary Party

These photos were taken Saturday at the Beachwood BBQ & Brewing One Year Anniversary Celebration, which was held at their Long Beach location on E. 3rd Street in Long Beach, CA. You might recall that I made my first visit to Beachwood Brewing a couple weeks ago. During that visit we were impressed enough with their home brews that we brought a growler of Mandarin Dream home with us, with the intent of returning for the one year celebration. It was a good idea. I remember being impressed that Beachwood was only one year old, yet had nine different brews …

Beachwood BBQ & Brewing Long Beach

Yesterday Tanya and I stopped by Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach. We were in Long Beach for the Chocolate Blues & Networking Festival and I knew there were a couple brewpubs in the area, so I figured after a long day of work a nice flight would be a good way to end the day. I recently met one of the bartenders at a local event and Dave over at Select Beer always speaks highly of Beachwood, so I decided to head over. I will be honest, as we worked our way over there I told Tanya there …

Chocolate Blues & Business Networking, Long Beach, CA

These photos were taken at the Long Beach/Seal Beach Chocolate Blues and Business Networking Festival; which was held at the Seaport Marina Hotel on June 27. As the name suggests, there was a lot of chocolate there. There was no “Blues” and there was some business networking. I have to be honest; I am not really sure what the target demographic was. While we had been invited to run the “Blogger’s Circle” which was to answer questions people had on how to improve their business and generate income and traffic through blogging the only person that came up had one …

2012 Chocolate Blues & Business Networking Festival is coming to Long Beach

The 2012 Long Beach/Seal Beach Chocolate Blues is coming to Long Beach, CA on Wednesday, June 27th, 2012 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. While this event has been running for nine years now, and happens in 40 cities across the United States, I think this is the first time that they have come to the Los Angeles/Orange County area. As such, this will be my first time attending and to make sure I attend, GotBaddog.com will be hosting the “Bloggers Circle” with my better half, Tanya of TanyaMartin.com and GeekGoodGirl.com. Having perused the testimonials on the Chocolate Blues website …
