The Stanley Cup returns to the South Bay

Sorry, for the delay; it has been a busy week. These photos were taken Wednesday on Pier Avenue where it meets The Strand as the Los Angeles Kings brought the Stanley Cup back to Hermosa Beach for the second time in as many years. Unlike last year when the parade basically went down Pier Avenue from the fire department to the plaza, this year’s parade began at the Redondo Beach Police Department and ended in Manhattan Beach.

The 2012 Stanley Cup comes to Hermosa Beach

Today the Stanley Cup arrived in Hermosa Beach, CA and about 5,000 people showed up to welcome it to the beach. The Cup was accompanied by Los Angeles Kings center and Hermosa Beach resident (during hockey season anyway), Jarret Stoll. Representing the City of Hermosa Beach was a slew of Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce members, elected officials and a couple fire trucks. The Kings Win the 2012 Stanley Cup

The Los Angeles Kings have won the 2012 Stanley Cup; the first time they have accomplished this since the franchise was founded way back in 1967. I decided to head over to Staples Center after I was convinced that I could not jinx their chances, and even though New Jersey scored about two minutes after I headed out, it was not enough to stop the Kings as they skated on to a 6-1 victory. Watch Party, Game 2 of the 2012 Stanley Cup at ESPN Zone

These photos were taken at the Watch Party of Game Two of the 2012 Stanley Cup Finals held at the ESPN Zone at L.A. Live, across from the Staples Center. My son and his family are big Los Angeles Kings fans and since the Kings have never lost a championship game they attended, they decided to make the 100 miles (each way) ride to see if watching the game from across the street from Staples would help or not.
