Photos of the Movember Gala Parte Los Angeles

Movember Gala Parte Los Angeles Avalon Hollywood, December 3, 2010 My regular readers certainly know that I was a participant in the Movember Foundation’s campaign last month to raise funds for and awareness of mens health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer. Since I had 40 years of facial hair, I started off by having a fundraiser to get me to shave it all off. In about 45 hours my goal of $1,000 was met and I shaved it all for Movember. Beginning November 1, I started growing the moustache back. As a thank you to all the participants, gala …

End of Movember

Well, it has been fun, but this is never happening again. This is the last day of Movember, so while many of my friends will be shaving tomorrow (or tonight), I will be throwing all my shaving supplies away. Never again will a blade touch this face. Anyway, if you would like to donate on behalf of my efforts this month, donations are still being accepted at Movember.com. My photo of the day for this last day of Movember is of my moustache, after 30 days of growth. I do have a Movember gala to go to Friday evening, so …

Three Weeks Down

Remember when you were a kid? Thanksgiving meant a month until Christmas and it would be the longest month of the year. Of course, now that we are adults the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas seems to be last about a week and a half. My picture of the day for Sunday is of my new moustache after three weeks of growth. Remember, I have committed to growing a moustache this month to raise funds and bring awareness to the many cancers that affect men. Contributions are being accepted all month, so if you support the cause please visit my …

Slowly But Surely

It is time to see if I can start to sculpt something with this moustache. The hard part about this is that my hair grows at different speeds and colors on different parts of my face. I may end up having to take some drastic measures. My photo of the day for day 323 is my face with 19 days of growth. Not very impressive, I know. What is impressive is the money that people have donated to the Movember cause. Donations are being accepted all month, so please visit my Movember page and donate whatever you can afford. Thanks.

A Movember Recruit

My good friend, Phil, upon seeing me shave my face bare so I could participate in Movember’s fund raising attempts decided that he would grow a moustache for the month as a sign of solidarity. I find it interesting that there are people like him that can not wait for December 1 so they can shave again, while I can not wait to start growing again. My photo of the day for Wednesday is of Phil and I comparing our growth thus far. While being a blonde may have had its advantages as a youth, it sure does not help …

Mid-Movember

Since I was in the neighborhood, I met up with my friend Lars, the team captain of team Legendary MOBRO for a photo op of our new moustache growth. I think his is coming in better than mine. My photo of the day for day 318 is of Lars and myself. As a reminder, I have committed to growing a moustache this month to raise funds and bring awareness to the many cancers that affect men. Contributions are being accepted all month, so if you support the cause please visit my page on Movember.com.

Tanya Returns

So, Tanya came back to LA for the first time since my Movember shave. Her first words? “What did you do with my boyfriend?” Perfect. So, it is settled, the grow back begins December 1 or else we are going to have to redo our logo, t-shirts and business cards. My photo of the day is of Tanya trying to make me resemble the guy she left a few weeks ago.

Not Digging It

For the life of me, I can not understand why people have thought that me shaving was a good idea. I am hating this new look and I can not wait for December when I can start growing a beard again. My picture of the day today shows how scruffy my early morning walks have become. As a reminder, I have committed to growing a moustache this month to raise funds and bring awareness to the many cancers that affect men. Contributions are being accepted all month, so if you support the cause please visit my page on Movember.com. Thanks …

A Watched Pot Never Boils

I have to admit, I have tested the idiom (I think it is an idiom) above and while it does take significantly longer to boil than if you just put it on the stove and drove to the 7-11, it will eventually boil. I am getting the feeling that a watched moustache never grows. My picture of the day shows what little progress has been made in the last three days. As a reminder, I have committed to growing a moustache this month to raise funds and bring awareness to the many cancers that affect men. Contributions are being accepted …
