Business & Beer returns to 1321 Downtown Taproom Bistro

Last night, Business & Beer returned to the 1321 Downtown Taproom Bistro for the second time; and Meetup joined us for the third consecutive week. It seems that Meetup is helping our networking group grow a little at a time, with two or three new attendees as a direct result of Meetup and a couple of them are becoming regular attendees. With the combination of Facebook, Meetup and word of mouth, BusinessNBeer is growing and business connections are being made. It is fun to sit back and watch as our attendees introduce themselves to each other and discover that there …

Meetup with the Original Sinners RC

My regular readers are probably aware that our business networking group, Business & Beer, recently joined Meetup.com in an attempt to build on the number of attendees at our weekly gatherings. For those unaware of what Meetup is, it is an online social media site that allows people with common interests to set up offline gatherings. In other words, a social media portal that actually encourages you to get away from Facebook and Twitter for a while. Whether you are looking for a business networking group or people to hunt butterflies with you, there is a good chance meetup.com can …

Business & Beer joins Meetup at The Rockefeller

The photos are from our Business & Beer networking group’s gathering at the Hermosa Beach gastropub, The Rockefeller. As I mentioned last week, we have decided to give Meetup.com a chance to see if we could build on the number of people that attend our networking events. Last week, with short notice, we had two new attendees that were a direct result of our joining meetup. Last night there were at least three Meetup attendees, however, we had more new people that regulars last night and I am not entirely sure if some of the others were there because of …

Business & Beer Joins Meetup at Alpine Inn

These photos are from our Business & Beer gathering at Alpine Inn, located at the Alpine Village in Torrance. Over the weekend we decided that we would try out the Meetup business networking platform to see if we could generate some additional interest from people that do not use Facebook. What we did not realize is that they have an approval process, so it took a few days before we were actually added to the system. In two days we got 10 new members, but as far as attendance is concerned, we had two people that joined us as a …

Strand Brewing Co hosts another Business & Beer

The South Bay’s most fun business networking group, Business & Beer, returned to the Strand Brewing Company tasting room Thursday and I think it is safe to say that everyone had a good time. We had close to 15 people come by with several of them being second time attendees. In addition, Rich Marcello, one of the co-owners of Strand Brewing Co, is always good about directing his customers that might benefit from our networking group over to us. We definitely appreciate it. For those that are familiar with Strand Brewing Company but have not visited in the last couple …

The Brewery at Abigaile hosts another Business N Beer

Last night we had another Business & Beer, this time returning to my favorite brewpub, The Brewery at Abigaile in Hermosa Beach. This was our first meetup in two weeks, and the first since Lent started, so I am not sure how much this combination contributed to our smaller than normal turnout. That is okay, those of us that came out had a good time and it gave us time to get to know each other more. If you live or work in the South Bay area and enjoy networking while enjoying a local craft beer, you should look into …

Tortilla Cantina hosts another Business & Beer

Last night, Business & Beer returned to Tortilla Cantina in downtown Torrance and we had a very nice turnout. Since we do not have mandatory meetings, people show up when they can and if they are too busy with other things on a particular night, they are welcomed back with open arms. Last night we had several people we have not seen in a while along with one new attendee. It made for a pretty good sized group and everyone seemed to have a good time. Remember, if networking with others is part of your business model and you live …

Photos from Business N Beer at Sophie’s Place

These photos are from our weekly Business & Beer gathering, which was held last night at Sophie’s Place in the Riviera Village section of Redondo Beach. Sophie’s Place is a family run gastropub, run by three brothers, and it is one place that always makes us feel like family; whether we come in as a group or by ourselves. Besides having a very nice beer list, with eight beers available on rotating taps and about 50 varieties available in bottles, they have a great food menu. Last night, Tanya and I tried a Yeti Float which is made with vanilla …

Business & Beer at Brewco, Manhattan Beach

These photos are from our Business & Beer gathering at Brewco, a gastropub in Manhattan Beach, CA. Brewco was initially opened about 20 years ago as Manhattan Beach Brewing Company. From what I can tell, they stopped brewing beer on location sometime in 2009 at which point it re-opened as Brewco. Brewco offers about 50 beers on tap, with most of them being craft beers from around the world. They also offer several bottled craft beers and frequently have hard to find brews available. This was the first time that we brought Business & Beer to this location and it …

Business & Beer at Alpine Inn, Torrance

These photos are from our return visit to the Alpine Inn with our Business & Beer networking group. The Alpine Inn is a German gastropub that has a nice selection of craft beers from the United States, Germany and the Czech Republic. This was our third visit to the Alpine Inn and it seems that every time we meet there we have a nice turnout of about 15 people. When you consider that Alpine Village is the furthest south we take our group and that it was only three days after New Year’s Day, I was pleased to see the …
