Starbucks Dinner

A few weeks ago I saw an ad on Facebook targeting Starbucks’ fans that lived in California. They were giving away coupons to try their new Artisan Snack Plates. Their offerings seemed to be on the healthy side and since I had not had dinner yet, Buddy and I decided to walk up to the local Starbucks and try it out. Since I was kind of hungry I went for the one that looked to be the most filling, the chicken and hummus on wheat flatbread. It was okay and probably better for me than a cinnamon swirl pastry, so …

Happy birthday, Buddy

Four years ago today, Buddy was born in a barn in the middle of Nowhere, Indiana. Seriously, you could not find the location if you tried. My GPS could not even help me find it. Luckily, I happened to be visiting Tanya a few days after he was born. I knew immediately that this was a puppy that I wanted to make my own. What I did not know at the time was that Tanya had already decided that he was the puppy she wanted. Lucky for me, she just smiled and said I could have him. It has been …

Quality Time

Day 214 of my photo a day project. It was Monday and as happens, the maids came. Since I had to give them some time to work around my desk, Buddy and I decided it would be a good time to go outside and play in the front yard for a while. Quality time is what it is all about. My photo of the day is of Buddy and me enjoying the nice day and checking out activity in the neighborhood.

Lousy Start For August

August can only get better, and I know it will. Since the first day of August is Sunday, I attempted to go for my Sunday ride. Since an out of town friend said he wanted to meet me at Gu Gu Sushi to try the new baddog roll, I decided to keep my destination within 100 miles. Unfortunately, since it was such a nice day, everyone in Los Angeles County decided to hit the road also. Add a few scattered brush fires and the traffic becomes unbearable. Have the friend flake out on sushi and I had the trifecta. My …

Modified Exhaust

I hope no local cops read this blog. Last week I put Screaming Eagle mufflers on my new Limited. Unfortunately, for the money spent, it wasn’t really quite enough. As I have been a customer of Bartels’ Harley-Davidson for almost 25 years, Ron Bartels was not about to let me be even slightly unsatisfied. That is why I keep coming back. My photo of the day for day 212 is a very rare photo in that it has someone else on my bike. Featured is Ron on the bike with his dad, Bill in the background.

Visit To the Vet

Last night, Buddy was in obvious discomfort with severe itching. I did what I could for him, but this morning I was not convinced that I had done enough, so I called his vet to see if they could see him today. Unfortunately, they could not see him until tomorrow and I did not want to wait that long, so they referred us to another down the street. We went in and they could not find anything wrong with him. They gave him a shot of cortisone to help the itching, suspecting he had some kind of summer allergy. While …

What a beautiful day

Buddy has yet to meet a new day he has not liked. Some days are just better than others. Today is one of those days. When we went out for our morning walk we were greeted with sun shine, blue skies and mild temperatures. When we headed to the park, Buddy was beside himself as the grass seemed to have some well placed twigs buried within that made it the perfect back scratcher. Day 209’s photo of the day is of Buddy getting rid of an itch.

A Great Honor

It is no secret that I have a sushi dependency. Unfortunately, just any sushi will not do, I have become spoiled. I was in Nobu in Las Vegas a few weeks ago and tried one of their rolls. It was okay, at best. For me, it is Gu Gu Sushi and Roll or nothing at all. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to return after three weeks of no Gu Gu. To my surprise I saw they had created a new baddog roll. It is made with cream cheese, deep fried shrimp, avocado and cucumber topped with smoked salmon, capers and …

Getting Wii Fit

Several months ago I started using a Wii Fit on a daily basis, well, any day that I was home anyway. A month or so ago I was pretty much forced into an upgrade to Wii Fit+. I really like this Wii Fit+ as it sets up combination workout routines that I would never consider doing on my own. I have to admit, I do believe I am seeing progress and some definition. My photo of the day for day 207 shows the progress I have made since the last full frontal pic.
