A Saturday ride around the South Bay

I picked up a new Canon 5D Mark II the other day and since I need to get some practice in before I feel comfortable photographing events, like the PV Street Fair coming up in a few weeks, I decided to take a ride around the South Bay with a couple friends and put the camera through some real world experience; the way I plan on using it. We started off by riding around the Palos Verdes Peninsula and ended up at Trump National Golf Club for a beer and a little snack. After spending a little time these we …

Training baddog

Those that know me know that Harley-Davidson is one of my greatest passions. If I was put in the situation that I had to give up photography or motorcycles, I would have to drop the camera. It is my therapy, my release, my church. Living in Southern California gives me a riding season of 12 months so when I feel the need to get away from the hassles of everyday life, escape is as close as my garage. There are a couple days a year I like to go riding whether or not I “feel the need” based solely on …

A nice day for a ride

So, my girlfriend came into town a couple days ago, and I finally got a photo of us together. We had a trade show in Hollywood to attend, and since February is one of the nicer times of the year to go for a motorcycle ride, we took advantage of the weather and beat the traffic by taking the Limited. My photo of the day for day 40 of Project365 is of Tanya and I cruising across I-10 on the way to Hollywood.

My first days of 2011 – Project365 photos

This has been an interesting year, thus far. I have been able to take a few nice motorcycle rides, spent some time with my honey, went to Las Vegas for close to a week and walked Buddy, a lot. Unfortunately, there were also a couple of technical issues that kept me from doing daily Project365 updates to GotBaddog, but I think I have gotten everything under control. I may not be religious about doing the updates, but at least I remember to take the photos. So, here is January 2011, Project365.

Barger Harley-Davidson Chili Cook Off Photos

Last Saturday, my buddy Phil and I took a ride out to Canoga Park to Barger Harley-Davidson for their open house and to check out the chili cook off. It was in the mid-80’s so while it may not have made for ideal chili weather, it was a great day for a bike ride. The chili was pretty good. What surprised me was that I liked the vegetarian version best.

Photos of the Easyriders Bike Show Sacramento

A few weeks ago, I entered a photo contest at a motorcycle forum and won an honorable mention. The prize was a pass to the Easyriders Bike Show which was coming to Los Angeles. Unfortunately, I was out of town that weekend at an Internet marketing trade show. I had a suspicion that I had won the honorable mention because the forum owners knew I would bring my camera and provide some photos for their members. Since it was in the mid-80’s at my place on Friday, and there did not appear to be a threat of rain between LA …

Time to start a new year

I am going to continue with my photo of the day project, also known as Project 365. While I really had to force myself to complete the project for 2010, I did it and I am glad I did. I had thought about switching it up a little, like have a different theme each month, but I am not sure how I want to approach this. I guess for now I will see if I can do an entire month with me in the daily photo. Last year, I made it 18 days before I started using photos of inanimate …

Bartels’ Harley-Davidson Customer Appreciation Breakfast

Photos From Bartels’ H-D Pancake Breakfast Marina del Rey, CA – December 12, 2010 Bartel’s Harley-Davidson is the Harley dealer to the stars. I am not sure when they achieved that status, but I am pretty confident I have been coming there since before then. They were a small outfit, tucked on the side streets when I first discovered them. Since I rode my bike more frequently than the average rider, it did not take long to become recognized. I have since bought a couple new Harleys from them, including my new Limited. Yesterday, Bartel’s had a free pancake breakfast …

Ride To Cooks Corner

Saturday, my son called and asked if I wanted to go for a ride. Since it was not raining and Tanya was game, I was all for it. We met down in San Juan Capistrano then rode over to Cook’s Corner for lunch. All in all, not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon. My photo of the day 338 was taken at Cook’s Corner. Featured are Tanya with my Limited and Daniel with his Fat Boy.

Back On the Road

Regular readers may recall that around Labor Day I was complaining about being in a lot of pain. Shortly after that I left for Europe for a few weeks. After I got home I eventually saw a doctor that treated my problem rather than my symptom. In a nutshell, I was not able to do any significant motorcycle riding since the beginning of September! That is forever in my book. Saturday ended that streak. My picture of the day for Saturday is of me at a gas stop after a couple hundred miles of riding. It sure is nice to …
