Thirsty Bear: Tapas and craft beer

A couple weeks ago I went up to San Francisco to attend Ad Tech and the Marketers Ball. As I only went up for the day, I did not have a room to go to while killing time between the two events; I had a parking spot and there was no sense moving, so I called Tanya and had her do a search for a micro brewery that might be within walking distance. After a few minutes she came up with the Thirsty Bear, which happened to be just a couple of blocks away from where I was at the Moscone Center. A micro brewery that serves tapas and Spanish food, how can I beat that?

As I approached the establishment I realized I had been here before, but it must have been for a private party that was upstairs or in the back somewhere because I had never noticed that they had a wide selection of craft beers on tap. Come to think of it, I never realized they sold food. It was around 6:00 PM, so the place was pretty packed. The bartender, Noe, assured me I could order dinner at the bar so I grabbed a stool and ordered a beer sampler. They had everything from pilsner to stout; however, they were out of the Howard Street IPA. Judging by all the frowns I noticed in my time there, it must be pretty good. I will be back; hopefully they will have some in stock. Continue reading

Photos from the Marketers Ball 2012 at 1015 Folsom, starring Too Short

After leaving ad:tech at the Moscone Center, I grabbed some dinner then headed over to 1015 Folsom for The Marketers Ball. The concert starred Too Short with a live band and included DJ YT Cracker, the Black Rock City Allstars and MASK featuring Money B. Sponsored by FriendFinder Networks and Infinite Traffic, promoter Darren Blatt’s many years of experience putting on these shows provided a very fun time for anyone that attended. Continue reading

Photos from Tuesday at Ad Tech 2012 San Francisco

These photos were taken Tuesday at the digital marketing conference and expo, Ad:Tech 2012. Once again, the B2B conference and trade show was held at Moscone Center in San Francisco. I only had a few hours there so I did not get a chance to catch any keynotes to speak of, but it was good running into people that I have known over the years on the trade show circuit; and seeing what is new. While the standard exhibits of SEO/SEM service providers, ad networks and payment processors remain, there is a definite increase of exhibitors providing services in mobile application development and their monetization. It seemed like there were a lot more dating affiliate programs as well. I guess there is money in love after all. Continue reading
