These photos are from the Smog City Brewing Company soft open which was held Friday evening in Torrance, CA. A few days ago, Smog City Brewing, a new local microbrewery, posted on their Facebook page that the brewery now had a telephone number and that people should call and leave a message; the hint that “there’s something in it for you too” was enough to make me call. Sunday, St. Patrick’s Day, and what better way to celebrate than to enjoy some of the best beers brewed in the South Bay at the Easy Reader 1st Annual Froth Awards held at Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach. They called it the Froth Awards, but I do not think it was as much a competition as an award of recognition to the rising stars of brewing in the South Bay. Tonight, Smog City Brewing had their hearing in front of the Torrance Planning Commission for a Conditional Use Permit to open a tasting room in Torrance. If you want to look it up, it was CUP12-00015. As we were given three minutes and I was pretty nervous, my comments ended up being edited slightly at the last minute; but the following is my comments in their entirety.
