Christmas Dinner 2011
After our morning motorcycle ride, Tanya and I headed home to prepare to go to my dad’s for Christmas dinner. Tanya fixed her famous strawberry-pecan summer salad and I picked up a few bottles of wine from my Sort This Out Cellars stash. We then packed the car, loaded up the dogs and headed to my dad’s.
Besides a couple brothers and a sister, there were my dad’s friends and friends of friends. I guess there were close to 20 people by the time all was said and done. As you can tell by the photos, we had a wide variety of food and drink and there were plenty of smiles to go around. Read more…
Another visit to Solvang
Last year, I introduced Tanya to Solvang, CA. Solvang is known as Denmark west due to its large Danish population. It is a quaint little town in the Santa Ynez Valley. It is a very nice ride or drive, either by car or motorcycle. Besides lots of touristy things, it is the home of my favorite winery, Sort This Out Cellars [STOC]. After a visit to STOC we found a nice hotel down the street to leave Buddy at, then we headed over to the Solvang Brewing Company. Solvang Brewing Company is fairly new and I guess we got there a week too early as they were not ready to release their own brews until the following weekend. Oh well, guess that gives me an excuse to go back there.

Rib Eye Time
I am a pretty good cook. I am very good when it comes to grilling on the barbecue. Unfortunately, I do not really enjoy cooking for myself, so I do not do it very often. I am a member of Sort This Out Cellars wine club, and every three months they send me a few bottles of wine. Since it was Friday, and I had received a supply of some new wines, I decided to go to the store and pick up a rib eye and fixings for a salad.
I picked a rib eye because I wanted to get something that would provide a bone for Buddy when I was done. He was quite appreciative. My photo of the day for day 239 is of the little feast I prepared.
