I made it home

Nine days, 3,200 miles. Some very nasty weather, and some nice weather. Beautiful canyons, waterfalls, bluffs, skies and motorcycles. Can not forget the motorcycles. I for one am so very pleased with the performance of my 2010 Harley-Davidson Limited. That thing was built for the open road. The 900 lbs. of weight really helped in the wind, and the 103 cubic inch motor with the six speed just loved it when I put the cruise control on at 90. 3,000 RPM! So smooth.

My picture of the day for day 230, was taken today as soon as I pulled into the driveway. That is the total mileage for my trip to the 70th Annual Black Hills Rally and Races in Sturgis, SD.

The Black Hills Rally ends

I have been coming to Sturgis since 1986, and have attended numerous times. The last time I came was in 2006 and I told myself I would not return. Circumstances changed and I found myself meeting Tanya here. Every other time I arrived at the beginning of the rally. This year I came towards the end. Smart move. I met a lot of nice people on this journey, from Wes and Dave of F.I.W.S. to the Anderson’s of Wisconsin, who gave us the idea of staying an additional day.

My photo of the day for day 227 is of a couple we met in Spearfish, SD today. He was from IN and now lives about 30 miles from me. It is a small world. For those of you that I gave my card to that are here for the pics of the events, I am beginning my ride home tomorrow, and I will get them all up after I get home. Hope you had a safe ride home.

California Bound

Motocross

Yesterday, we took a ride through Spearfish Canyon, visited Deadwood, watched some motocross and visited a very nice petrified forest that happened to be behind our cabin. While at the races I was able to practice my action shots with the Canon and am very happy with the results. I gave a stack of my business cards to a track official that said he knew most of the parents of the racers. If you received one of the cards and came here looking for the photos I took, you are a little early. I am working with a slow connection, so will have to wait until I get home to get them uploaded. In the meantime, you can follow my Facebook link and find a good number of them. After they are up here, if you find a photo you want, contact me and I will send you the file, no charge.

My photo of the day for day for day 226 is of one of the racers getting big air at the motocross races.
