A Blustery Day at Pt Vicente

Pictures from Point Vicente

A Windy Winter Day

My girlfriend has not been here since I discovered that Point Vicente is a great place to watch for whales. We decided to take a short break from work and head up there. We got a couple water spouts, so we know they were out there, but it was really blown out. Not sure a whale really cares about the weather though.

Cook’s Corner

Our Sunday Ride to Silverado

It is Sunday, but it has been raining on and off for over a week. We passed on our ride last week because of rain. Naturally, since we did not ride, it did not rain all that much. We decided to not risk passing up another ride only to have it not rain. Of course, that just ensured that it did rain. It was not that bad. I rode my Electra Glide and Daniel rode his Fat Boy. Daniel’s friend Edson joined us on his Yamaha. I don’t think he was really prepared for cold and wet weather. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

West Los Angeles VA Center

Last week, you may have seen the video I took of a mural at the VA medical center in West Los Angeles. I decided to submit it to CNN’s iReport, and they felt it was worthy enough to contact me in their vetting process to validate the video. They asked if I had additional photos, which I did, but only a couple and they were taken with my point and shoot, from my bike. Today I went back with my Canon Rebel and took some higher quality photos.

Project 365 February

Project 365

The month of February

February 2010 is drawing to a close. I know it was only 28 days long, but it sure seemed to fly by quickly. February was a pretty slow month for me in that I did not really do much in the way of traveling. Went on a couple nice bike rides with Daniel, to Solvang and Santa Barbara. Tried a little whale watching, but they were not cooperating with me. The month ended with the closing of a pretty nice business deal, so the future looks rosy.

Am looking forward to the next couple of months, primarily due to the fact that I get to spend a lot of time with my girl and that always pleases me.

The 10 Basic Steps to Whale Watching

Ah, it is that time of year again when the California Gray Whale heads to Mexico for the same reason the rest of us go there. Mating. Anyway, a popular pastime this time of year is to go whale watching. You can pay to go on a boat, but there are no guarantees. We are actually 50-50 when using a boat, but we had to go to Hawaii to have any luck. Sometimes that is just not feasible. The easiest way is to go to the beach and watch them there.

For those that want to go to the seashore to whale watch, I have decided to create this little video tutorial on How to Watch Whales, the 10 Basic Steps. I hope you find it helpful.
