Photos of the Journey From Amsterdam to Dublin

Flight From Amsterdam to Dublin Photos From Our First Day In Ireland It was early Monday morning when we arrived in Amsterdam. We only had a couple of hours between flights, so we spent it at the airport dealing with airport security and getting to our gate for the connecting flight. Time flew, so in no time it felt as if we were airborne again, on our way to Dublin. A good friend of mine is from Dublin and he still has family there. His mother, a sister and her daughter met us at the airport in Dublin and took …

Flying from Chicago to Amsterdam

Photos From 35,000 Feet The flight from Chicago to Amsterdam Sunday, Tanya and I packed up and headed to Cracker Barrel for one last meal before boarding our flight to Amsterdam. We flew KLM because we like their service and we know where the good seats are. The flight was a little over seven hours long, and we got no sleep, but we arrived in great spirits. Next stop, Dublin.

Kiwanis Hot Air BalloonFest Photos

Valparaiso Kiwanis 20th Annual Hot Air BalloonFest Valparaiso, IN – September 11, 2010 I flew into Chicago yesterday as the first leg of my Euro Tour 2010, as Tanya is coming with me and it was faster than having her come to LA. It turns out that Valparaiso, IN was a hotbed of activity this weekend. One event I wanted to attend was the popcorn festival, but time was tight. Instead we headed over to the Porter County Fairgrounds for the Valparaiso Kiwanis 20th Annual Hot Air BalloonFest. I was told that they would have tethered balloon rides, but no …

It really hurts me to do this

Seriously, it is painful to sit and type at my laptop lately as I have injured myself. Unfortunately, my doctor is incompetent and my insurance company forces me to jump through hoops, so I guess I will have to toughen up for a while. It also means that most likely my photo a day project will be done in bursts rather than daily. So, here we go with a summary of the last few days. As my regular readers now, I am quite fond of Gu Gu Sushi and they created the GotBaddog.com roll for me. Since then I have …

Getting to know you

Since I do travel a lot, it was decided that Buddy and my dad should get to know each other a little better. Yesterday, we went over to my dad’s and Buddy hung out for a while, then I let my dad take Buddy for a walk. Buddy is a pretty perceptive little guy and he is a quick learner, all we have to do is get my dad comfortable with handling the leash and issuing basic commands. Luckily, Buddy already knows he is supposed to sit at corners, so this should not take long. My photo of the day …

Cheyenne, WY to Piedmont, SD

Photos from Wyoming and South Dakota The Final Leg of the Ride to the Black Hills Rally Thursday did not quite go as planned. I started off in Cheyenne, WY and should have been able to make it to Piedmont, SD (my destination) in five hours. Unfortunately, within minutes of leaving Cheyenne I knew there was something physically wrong with me as I had very little muscle control. Unfortunately, as I mentioned the other day, once you leave civilization in Wyoming you are pretty much committed to continuing on until you reach another big town. It just so happens that …

Grand Junction to Denver Pictures

Photos From I-70 In Colorado The ride from Grand Junction to Denver, CO Wednesday morning, I continued my ride to the 70th Annual Black Hills Rally and Races from Grand Junction, CO. I was doing well on the amount of miles traveled per day, so I was able to stop a little more frequently and enjoy the Colorado beauty found along I-70. This included going through the Eisenhower Tunnel, which is over 11,000 feet in elevation. This resulted in the temperatures dropping to the high 70’s and low 80’s. After spending the last few days in the high 90’s and …

I made it home

Nine days, 3,200 miles. Some very nasty weather, and some nice weather. Beautiful canyons, waterfalls, bluffs, skies and motorcycles. Can not forget the motorcycles. I for one am so very pleased with the performance of my 2010 Harley-Davidson Limited. That thing was built for the open road. The 900 lbs. of weight really helped in the wind, and the 103 cubic inch motor with the six speed just loved it when I put the cruise control on at 90. 3,000 RPM! So smooth. My picture of the day for day 230, was taken today as soon as I pulled into …

Sharing Sturgis

Last May, I came through South Dakota and Sturgis with Tanya, and all I could do was talk about how much more fun it would be if we were on a bike, riding down these open roads. Today, we lived the experience. She drove from IN to meet me, and today we went into Sturgis and cruised Main Street. We then rode to Rapid City to hit the Harley dealer as I had gotten a short that caused my tail light to not come on. I suspect it was from this huge bump I hit somewhere in CO. It was …
