More Like It

It seems like only yesterday, or last week, that I was complaining about how wet it was around here. Now, I am noticing several of my Facebook friends complaining about how hot it is. It is really easy to tell which of them have not lived here long enough to figure out that this is LA. This is the time of year that we shine, literally and figuratively. My photo of the day today is of the view from my front porch as Buddy and I headed out for our morning walk.

October 2010 Project 365 Recap

A Picture a Day – Project 365 October 2010 As much as this Project 365 seems more like project than fun at times, it is a handy way of reflecting back and seeing what you have done in the last month. October had too much rain and way too many visits to medical professionals. On the upside, my shoulder is better, I got to spend some time with Tanya in Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks and I was able to raise some money for a good cause.

It Must Be Fall

As I have mentioned several times over the past few weeks, the weather here has been weird. It reminds me more of Ireland than Southern California. When I look around there is a semblance of Fall. That must be what it is. If I had not visited other places in the country, I may not have recognized it. My photo of the day for day 299 is of me during my morning walk. It does look like the leaves fell, alright. It must be Fall.

28 years ago today, I became a father for the first time. I will never forget that day from the endless hours waiting for her to come out to getting splattered in the face with blood when I cut the umbilical cord. The doctor found that particularly funny. The nurses had to pry her from my arms, promising that they would return her after they cleaned her up and took her vitals. My picture of the day for day 298 is of me, pondering how the heck that could have been 28 years ago. Happy birthday, Jessica.

Another One of Those Days

There is really nothing quite as irritating as waking up to problems. Especially problems that spider outwards to cause problems in multiple locations. Sunday was one of those days. Luckily, I have a smart and talented girlfriend and by the end of the day it was just a matter of playing the waiting game. My project 365 photo for day 297 is of me while walking Buddy. Was a nice day. Too bad I had to spend it primarily inside.

Still Wet Here

I swear, if I did not know better I would think I was somewhere other than home. I do not remember the last time we had such a wet October. My photo of the day for day 296 of Project 365 is Buddy’s point of view on another rainy morning walk.

It Just Keeps On

If it is not one thing it is another would be a welcome relief. Instead it just keeps piling on. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. I guess I am glad that it is not all sun shiny and bright. It would totally conflict with my disposition. My picture of the day for Project 365 day 295 is a photo of the clouds that are parked over me lately.

Lethal Combination

Some things just do not mix well. You know, cats and dogs, scotch and orange juice, things like that. I am reminded almost daily that I should not bring alcohol and fireworks to the park. That is okay, I can wait on the beer. My picture of the day for day 294 is a reminder to not mix alcohol and fireworks.

Another Rainy Walk

I do not know what is happening with the weather around here. One might think this was Oregon or something with all the rain we have had recently. Okay, that might be a slight exaggeration, but it did remind me of a period a few years ago when LA had more rainfall than Seattle. I hope we do not have a repeat of that as I have no real plans of going anywhere for a while. My Project 365 photo for day 292 was taken while walking Buddy on another rainy morning.

Gawking

We humans, at an early age, are [usually] taught that it is not polite to stare. Unfortunately, this was a lesson that I seemed unable to convey to Buddy. If he was a human he would probably be considered fairly rude. I think he just can not help it. My picture of the day for day 284 is of Buddy, with his eye on a cute French poodle. He went up and introduced himself, but apparently she did not care for mutts.
