Photos from Horsetail Falls at Yosemite

Since we had pretty good luck on Saturday, we decided to return to Horsetail Falls on Sunday. We got there about 3.5 hours early and picked our spot. Everything looked great until the sun started going down. There was a huge cloud bank which threatened to block the sun’s rays from hitting the falls, a very important ingredient to the equation. To be honest, I was ready to pack it in along with many others. Luckily, Tanya wanted to stick it out. At the last minute the sun broke through and we got our shots.

Although we have been a couple for almost four years now, this is the first Valentine’s Day that we will spend together. I decided that it would be nice if we celebrated it by going to see something that relatively few people have seen. For a few weeks of February, Horsetail Falls, in Yosemite National Park, puts on a show that is only visible for 10 or 15 minutes a day. We spoke with people that have tried to photograph it unsuccessfully for years. We got it on our first try.
