These photos are from Share Our Strengths Taste of the Nation Los Angeles which was held Sunday at Media Park in Culver City, CA. Taste of the Nation, put on by No Kid Hungry, featured some of Los Angeles’ top chefs with more than 50 food options with everything from tacos and hamburgers to shrimp and tasty little desserts. To tell you the truth, there was far more food available than I could itemize. Judging by the lines and aromas emanating from the various booths, it was all pretty good. I was able to try a few samples, each of them quite well done. In addition to the various foods there were beer samples poured by some of my favorite local craft breweries, lots of wine options and even some specialty mixed cocktails. This was one of those events that it would be a good idea to have a designated driver.

Taste of the Nation has been fighting childhood hunger for 25 years by connecting kids to effective nutrition programs like school breakfast and summer meals. In addition, through its Cooking Matters program, the No Kid Hungry campaign educates and empowers low-income families to stretch their food budgets so their kids get healthy meals at home. In addition to ticket sales, a burger competition between top chefs along with live and silent auctions helped raise funds to support local recipients including the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, St. Josephs Center, California Association of Food Banks, and California Food Policy Advocates. It was a beautiful Southern California afternoon with several hundred attendees all having a good time supporting a good cause.
